Be Prepared for Leaves
Be Prepared for Leaves
The season of fall is upon us, and this means leaves everywhere! It can be difficult to deal with them; however, this guide will help manage the fall leaves. You may even decide to keep a few around instead of throwing them away. Learn more about it here!
Raking Leaves Tips
Nobody likes the hard task of raking a huge yard. Learn to quickly rake leaves to finish the task in a short time:
- Rake downwards and in the direction of the wind. Let gravity assist you by raking leaves downwards as much as you can. If your yard is flat, concentrate on making a rake in the direction that the wind is moving.
- Mow instead of rake. When you are at the beginning of fall and still have the lawn mowed, avoid the raking step and proceed to mow. Take the bag off, so that grass clippings and leaves are deposited on the lawn. This reduces the work involved and allows essential nutrients to be returned to the soil.
- Utilize a leaf blower. This lets you stroll around in an upright body by blowing the leaves into piles or sucking them up to create mulch or to start the heap of compost.
- Find a rake that feels comfortable. When you purchase a rake, look for one that fits your body. The more comfortable it feels and the more comfortable it is to use makes the job easier.
- Protect yourself with gloves and a mask for dust. It will help keep your hands and lungs safe when you are cleaning the yard.
Putting Leaves into a Bag
After you've collected leaves into pile, it's time to take them out of the bag:
- Leaves can be raked onto the tarp. Once you have it, you are able to easily move leaves to another area. It is also possible to funnel them into trash bags much more efficiently than collecting them manually.
- Make use of leaf scoops. They can be used to increase their reach, allowing you gather a huge amount in one go.
- Utilize trash funnels. The frames are made of aluminum that keeps your garbage bag open and makes it easier to fill it with leaves. It is also possible to have them placed on the side so that you can directly rake leaves into the garbage.
Reusing Some of Your Leaves
There's no reason to get rid of your entire collection of leaves this autumn. Make the leaves serve you by using these suggestions to reuse them:
- Create compost. Dead leaf litter is the main component of compost piles. Begin one in the fall, and you'll have rich, nutrient-rich fertilizer to plant in your garden the following spring.
- Create mulch. You should not forget to remove some leaves under the trees and shrubs in which they'll decompose during winter. In this way, you'll require less mulch when spring comes around.
- Make sure your garden is protected from the cold winter months. Protect delicate plants by covering them with dead leaves in order to protect them from the harshest of winter's cold.
- Make leaf crafts. Prior to your raking, pick the most stunning leaves in your yard and place them against the insides of a thick book. You now have the basis for creating cute crafts at home, like leaf bookmarks that are laminated and leaf prints, autumn garlands, and much more.
